A college football game on Polymarket carries a moneyline, a ladder of spreads and totals, team totals, half and quarter markets and, on some games, touchdown props. This guide covers what each market is and how it settles (overtime counts for the moneyline, not for a quarter market), where the money went on 339 games in 2026 ($40.4 million, 65.4% of it on the moneyline), how often underdogs won against their kickoff price (25.9% at 25.8 cents), what home field was worth (64.4%), and how to follow the season on 0xinsider.

## A college football game on Polymarket

Polymarket lists each college football game as an event titled with the away team first, "Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh" for Syracuse at Pittsburgh. The moneyline pays $1 a share on the team that wins. Around it sit the spread and total ladders and a set of smaller markets.

Across 339 games from August 20 to September 12, 2026, a game that listed spreads carried 21.6 spread markets on average, for both teams, and a game with totals 16.3 total lines. Most games also listed team totals, 15.1 lines a game, and half and quarter markets: a first-half spread, a moneyline for each half and quarter, and quarter spreads and totals. 88 games carried anytime touchdown props, 17.6 markets a game.

On the 0xinsider event page for Syracuse and Pittsburgh, four days before the game, the Markets section listed the moneyline, a second-half moneyline, a spread with Pittsburgh at -10.5, the total, team touchdowns and player props.

## Where the money goes on a college football game

Polymarket reported $40.4 million in volume on those 339 games. The moneyline took 65.4% of it, spreads 20.9% and totals 11.6%. Team totals took 0.6%, the first-half spread 0.5% and the fourth-quarter moneyline 0.5%, and everything else together took less than 1%.

Read that as a map of liquidity. The 1,550 anytime touchdown markets traded $740 between them, so a prop can show a price with almost nothing behind it. Check a market's volume on its page before you size a bet.

## How college football markets settle

Each market's rules are on its page. The moneyline resolves to the team that wins, overtime included, and a game that ends in a tie settles 50-50. A postponed game keeps the market open until it is played, and a game canceled with no makeup settles 50-50.

A spread such as "Spread: Oklahoma (-4.5)" resolves to Oklahoma if it wins by 5 or more points and to its opponent otherwise. A total such as "O/U 51.5" resolves Over if the two teams combine for 52 or more points. A team total counts one team's points only.

Half and quarter markets count only the points scored in that period, with overtime left out, and a tied period settles a period moneyline 50-50. An anytime touchdown prop resolves Yes if the player scores a rushing or receiving touchdown, overtime included.

## Reading a college football price

A Polymarket share pays $1, so its price is a probability. A team at 75¢ is a 75% chance to win, and the other team trades near 25¢. Buy $100 of the 75¢ side and you hold about 133 shares that pay about $133 if the team wins.

Sportsbook odds convert the same way. A favorite at -300 is 300 divided by 400, 75%; an underdog at +300 is 100 divided by 400, 25%. College football runs to longer prices than the NFL: 157 college favorites in the upsets study were priced at 90 cents or more at kickoff, against 10 in the NFL.

## Upsets in college football

College football underdogs won 25.9% of 822 games settled on Polymarket from September 2025 to September 2026, at an average kickoff price of 25.8 cents, so upsets came at about the rate the market priced them. Favorites priced 90 cents or more won 94.3% of their games, about one loss in eighteen. The chart below compares both leagues.

The biggest upset by kickoff price was UMass over Rutgers on September 3, 2026, at 2.6 cents. Home and road underdogs were both priced about right, and $1 on every underdog came out behind after the taker fee, inside the noise. The study is at 0xinsider.com/research/football-underdogs-polymarket.

## Home field in college football

College football home teams won 64.4% of 985 games settled on Polymarket, with neutral-site games left out: 58.2% over 660 games in 2025 and 76.9% over the 325 games of 2026 so far. The 2026 figure covers only the opening weeks, so treat 2025's rate as the season number.

That is the largest home rate of the six US leagues in the study at 0xinsider.com/research/home-field-advantage-polymarket, where NFL and MLB home teams won 53.7%. The price already reflects who is at home, so a home team is not a bet in itself.

## Spreads, totals and team totals

College spread ladders run wide. Of the 6,361 spread lines listed on 2026 games to September 12, 1,276 asked a team to win by 30 points or more, and the widest was 76.5. The ladder covers both teams, so you can take the favorite at a small spread or the underdog with points, each at its own price.

Totals and team totals are ladders too. A line further from the expected score pays more and lands less often, and its price says how much. Every line on a game settles on the same final score, so two Overs on one game add up to one larger bet on that score. The guides at 0xinsider.com/learn/point-spread-betting-explained and 0xinsider.com/learn/over-under-betting-explained cover both markets across sports.

## Live college football betting

College football markets keep trading after kickoff, and the prices move with every score. Across sports, 48.6% of large Polymarket buys in the April to September 2026 timing study landed after the start; the study is at 0xinsider.com/research/when-large-sports-bets-land.

A limit order at your price avoids chasing a moving market, and a resting order that fills pays no taker fee. To take a position off during the game, sell your shares; the guide at 0xinsider.com/learn/cash-out-betting-explained covers when that makes sense.
